About the Nonprofit

The AAPI Commission receives the large majority of its funding through Massachusetts State Government appropriations on a fiscal year cycle (July 1 – June 30). The AAPI Commission also has a non-profit (EIN 46-1063709), which was founded in 2014 under the original name Massachusetts Asian American Commission. The initial purpose of the nonprofit was to create an emergency fund in case future government funding should be cut, as well as to supplement state appropriations when needed. It became tax-exempt in 2018, and functions on a calendar year basis (January 1 – December 31).

The Executive Committee, including the Treasurer, are the official stewards of the nonprofit, though any decisions in relation to using funds are made by the full Commission at a Monthly Meeting.

The main event associated with the nonprofit is the Unity Dinner, which you can learn more about here.

The AAPI Commission is grateful for all levels and forms of support for our work, including your generous donations. All donations are tax deductible.
