Statement Supporting the Creation of a Commission on the Status of African Americans

On July 9, 2020 the Asian American Commission released this statement in support of the establishment of a Commission for the African American community.

The establishment of a new commission to examine systemic racism and promote the interests of the Black and African American community would help uplift racial justice across Massachusetts and benefit us all.

We advise the Massachusetts State Legislature and Office of the Massachusetts Governor to advance and support the creation of this commission. The AAC lends our full support in solidarity with the Black community to ensure that structural reforms take place within the halls of state government.
We look forward to working with this new commission to advance racial equity across the Commonwealth.
