Tungkol sa Asian American & Pacific Islander Commission
To more accurately capture and celebrate the rich tapestry of our community, the Massachusetts Asian American Commission has transitioned its name to the Massachusetts Asian American and Pacific Islanders Commission (AAPIC). This name change, signed into law by Governor Charlie Baker on July 16, 2021, as a part of the FY22 state budget, is a testament toour commitment to recognizing the vibrant history, culture, and contributions of both Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders throughout the Commonwealth.
The Commission, initially founded as the Massachusetts Asian American Commission (AAC) on October 29, 2006, stands as a permanent statewide entity championing the causes and concerns of Asian Americans. Today, as the AAPIC, our expanded mission encompasses:
- Celebrating the significant roles Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders play across various spheres of the Commonwealth, from the social and cultural to the economic and political.
- Actively identifying and addressing the unique challenges faced by residents of Asian and Pacific Islander heritage.
- Fostering the growth and prosperity of our diverse community, ensuring a brighter future for every resident of Massachusetts.
Join us in our journey as we advocate for and with the dynamic and multifaceted AAPI community, embodying the spirit and aspirations of the broader Massachusetts family.
